Dental implants are a dental procedure where a special titanium screw is placed in the upper or lower jawbone, often by an oral surgeon or periodontist. Then, after a healing period, a crown is then placed on the implant by Dr. Gentling. The process of getting a dental implant is fairly simple, however, it often takes six months or more for your bone to lock the implant in place. Even though dental implants are not affected by tooth decay, they are susceptible to gum disease just like natural teeth.
