Veneers are a thin shell of porcelain or ceramic that is bonded to the front side of your teeth. Veneers are most often used to close gaps, hide discolored, chipped, or crooked teeth. Typically, veneers are done on the upper front teeth but they can be done to any tooth. Most often to get the best result 8 to 10 teeth need to be veneered. The process consists of slightly reducing or preparing your teeth and taking impressions (molds) of your teeth. It will take our lab about three weeks to custom make the veneers to the size, shape and color of your choosing. While the lab is making your veneers, you will be wearing temporary veneers that will look similar to the final permanent veneers. Once the veneers are bonded to your teeth they will likely not come off. However, since veneers are made of porcelain they can break or fracture so you must be careful. They will last for many years with proper maintenance and if certain precautions are followed.
